Year-round; full time during summer at 37.5–40 hours per week and part time during semesters at 15–20 hours per week.
About the role
Year-round hybrid internship supporting Baird’s Conference Services team in planning and delivering conferences, events, and meetings. The role involves registration, communications, venue sourcing, event materials, expenses, and onsite logistics. Candidates should be local Milwaukee students available full time during summer and part time during academic semesters.
Schedule and Location
- Work three days weekly in Baird’s downtown Milwaukee office and two days remotely.
- Work 37.5–40 hours weekly during summer and 15–20 hours during school semesters.
- Start in May 2027; anticipated graduation date must be May 2028 or later.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and registration for in-person, virtual, and hybrid conferences, events, and meetings.
- Draft and edit communications, create registration sites, and support venue sourcing.
- Prepare, pack, and manage event supplies, nametags, and printed materials.
- Handle monthly credit card statements, check deposits, and expenses.
- Support event setup, onsite logistics, and staffing when conference attendance opportunities arise.
- Perform daily department duties and learn about the team’s internal and external business partners.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in hospitality, communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, business, or a related field.
- Local student able to start in May 2027 and graduate in May 2028 or later.
- Demonstrated customer service commitment and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, calm, courteous demeanor when interacting with clients, associates, and senior leadership.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, multitasking, motivation, proactivity, and commitment to learning.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; employment sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Event planning experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in an office setting is preferred.
- Graphic design, marketing, content creation, or promotional editing experience, including Canva, is a plus.
