About the role

Baird’s year-round Compliance Internship in Milwaukee offers hands-on exposure to financial-services laws, regulations, ethical standards, and compliance processes. Interns support reviews, investigations, data analysis, reporting, and administrative work while collaborating with experienced professionals. The hybrid role starts in April/May 2027 and combines summer full-time work with semester part-time hours.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze department, firm, and industry data supporting compliance business continuity.
  • Assist with compliance reviews across various business units.
  • Investigate potential watch list matches using online, database, and court-record research.
  • Gather information about potentially suspicious client activity and escalate findings for analysis.
  • Coordinate institutional branch reviews and maintain Excel and PowerPoint materials.
  • Answer phones, respond to client questions, and complete assigned special projects.

Working Arrangement

  • Work three days weekly in Baird’s downtown Milwaukee office and two days remotely.
  • Work full time during summer, approximately 37.5–40 hours per week.
  • Work part time during school semesters, approximately 15–20 hours per week.
  • Applicants must be local students able to start in April/May 2027.

Program Experience

  • Collaborate with experienced compliance professionals on practical tasks and projects.
  • Participate in mentorship, professional development, networking, and firmwide events.
  • Program activities include Intern Welcome and Baird Gives Back Day.

Requirements

  • Pursue a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Maintain a proven record of academic excellence and anticipate graduating May 2028 or later.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Be able to work without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
